To open this type of account, you will need to first open an account with a Margin Lender.
If you have a Margin Loan with St George or Suncorp margin lending you can trade online and view details of your loan real time on the platform. Customers who have margin loans with other providers can trade over the phone but can still access all the tools and data on the platform.
We are required to verify your identity prior to opening your account. We verify your identity by conducting an electronic verification check.
If you do not wish us to conduct an electronic verification check, please exit from this online account opening process. You will need to print and
complete an application form, and provide us with certified copies of original identification. For details of documents you'll need

Do you have all the information you need to complete your application?
- Personal details for yourself and any joint applicant
- Driver’s licence number (optional) – allows us to confirm your ID fast online
- Your margin lending account or client reference number
- Your HIN (Holder Identification Number). Your Margin Lender will be able to provide this if you have recently opened your margin lending facility and not yet received a letter from CHESS
- Tax file number (TFN) or exemption details (optional)
